Scale Matters
The
neighbourhood IJwijk designed by OMA in Amsterdam was the design location for
INDESEM 2013. Our project proposes to challenge the spatial experience and characteristic
of the neighbourhood by changing the spatial parameters of the building blocks. The
project forms an illustration of the influence of scale within each
modification. Through different perspectives - the inhabitant, the collective and
the municipality – the project illustrates how each configuration changes the perception,
qualities and possibilities of the area. As an architectural exercise
the project introduces new possibilities for: housing typologies, public space,
semi-public space, infrastructure and potential landmarks.
